BusinessWatch wins Business of Year Award 2007

Staff at Cambridgeshire-based The BusinessWatch Group are celebrating after the company was declared Small Business of the Year at a prestigious awards ceremony.

The company, started 14 years ago by Jonathan Wakerley from his parents’ spare room, scooped the accolade in the Peterborough Evening Telegraph’s Business Awards 2007.

The judges heaped praise on the company, which specialises in domestic and commercial intruder alarms, CCTV, door access and fire alarm systems, guarding and telecommunications saying: “BusinessWatch demonstrated commitment and drive as well as foresight in strategy, business development and their people. They had to beat off some very tough competitors and therefore should be very proud of their achievement.”

Jonathan admits being’ shell shocked’ as he received the award from television newsreader Mary Nightingale at the glittering awards night staged at the Holiday Inn, Thorpe Wood, Peterborough, but was quick to pay tribute to his 80-strong team of staff.

“I started the company before I left school having no idea how big it could become,” said Jonathan. “I’ve built up a brilliant team around me and the award is a result of the hard work, dedication and vision of everyone involved. I’m so proud for every person involved with The BusinessWatch Group.”
