The BusinessWatch Group stamps out it’s carbon footprint
Peterborough’s Small Business of the Year The BusinessWatch Group has honoured it’s pledge to be a carbon neutral company – and helped plant a wood.
In line with it’s commitment to best practice in every area of business, the trailblazing Orton Southgate based company has stamped out the carbon footprint left by it’s operations.
A detailed audit was carried out by non-executive director Mark Miller, from Future Perfect – a world-leading provider of greenhouse gas related sustainability management - on The BusinessWatch Group’s carbon output.
That annual figure, including vehicle mileage and power use, was then offset through co2balance.com with a donation given to the Sand Martin Wood project – the planting of a six-hectare woodland in Cumbria.
“The BusinessWatch Group has set a benchmark for other small companies to aim for,” said Mark. “It is also unusual in the security sector. So few companies have yet accepted that everyone needs to take responsibility for their carbon footprint.”
The company’s carbon emissions will be recalculated and offset annually.
Group finance director Richard Olsen has overseen the project. “It is important to us as a group to ensure we demonstrate best practice in every area so our customers and suppliers can rest assured they are receiving a first class service,” said Richard.
The BusinessWatch Group specialises in domestic and commercial intruder and fire alarm systems, guarding and telecommunications.
