BusinessWatch staff celebrate charity ball success
Staff at city-based security firm The BusinessWatch Group are celebrating after raising a staggering £10,500 in one evening.
The company rose to the Big Wigs Challenge and organised a sumptuous Black and White Ball and Charity Auction at The Haycock Hotel in Wandsford.
Big Wigs pits businesses against each other to raise as much cash as possible for Sue Ryder Care’s Thorpe Hall Hospice – from a starting point of just £50.
A host of services and items were donated by generous partners and clients of BusinessWatch for auctioning on the night.
Under the watchful eye of auctioneer Chris Woodford from Woodford and Co, in Oundle, there was some frantic bidding for lots including the use of James Bond’s Aston Martin for the day, a £2,000 holiday, a day at Newmarket races, 30 session laps in a Radical SR4 race car and 4 tickets for England v South Africa at Twickenham.
The evening, which included a three course meal, was rounded off with a disco and a charity raffle.
The £10,500 raised has gone directly into the coffers of Sue Ryder Care and The BusinessWatch Group is now waiting to hear whether they have won the Big Wigs Challenge for 2008.
“We were thrilled to raise so much money on the night,” said organiser Claire Booth. “We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped make it such a success – those who came on the night and everyone who donated their time, services and auction items.”
The results of the Big Wigs Challenge, together with the grand total raised by the 15 participating companies, will be announced at the end of July.
